We just conducted our first face-to-face workshop since the onset of the pandemic!

Venture’s best-selling workshop, the Basic Course on Fund Raising (BCFR) #75 was held for three consecutive days last October 3-5, 2023, at the Exodus Room of The Prestige Tower in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

On Day 1, Ms. Pinky, our Executive Director, established the essence of professional fund raising both as a science and an art. The basic resource mobilization concepts and principles were presented along with the discussion on anchoring fund raising initiatives to our organization’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic goals.

This was followed by a session led by Ms, Kiel, our Deputy Executive Director, on the different stakeholders who must be involved in the fund raising process as well as the different policies, systems, and structures that should be in place before fund raising commences.

Ms. Ania, our Program Associate, opened Day 2 with a discussion on the current fund raising trends and environment at the national, regional, and global levels, that the participants may take into consideration before planning their campaigns. 

The day continued with Ms. Kiel’s presentation on how participants can expand their constituencies and identify their prospective donors. She also presented generational differences in giving that can help organizations plan how to approach donor prospects of different ages.

In the afternoon session, Ms Pinky and Ms Kiel tackled the different fund raising acquisition strategies that organizations can employ such as events, internet fundraising, cause-related marketing, direct mail, and many more.

On Day 3, Ms. Pinky provided additional strategies on how organizations can take care of and “upgrade” their donors. This was followed by a presentation on other sources of non-profit funds such as earned income strategies, social enterprises, and grants.

The rest of the afternoon focused on monitoring and evaluating fund raising campaigns where participants were given basic information and exercises on how they can objectively assess if their campaigns are working.. Lastly, the participants were introduced to the strategic fund raising planning process, giving them step-by-step instructions on how they can start planning their campaigns.

To make the workshop more interactive, the 3-day course was interspersed with games, group activities, and sharing sessions to allow our participants to immediately put into practice the theories that were discussed. As a bonus, a 30-minute post-workshop consultation per organization was also offered to the participants.
