The Art of Collaboration (AoC): NGO-Corporate Partnerships That Work was a special 1-day course conducted by Venture last October 6, 2023, at the Exodus Room of The Prestige Tower in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

The workshop commenced with a discussion on the basic principles of fund raising which was led by our Executive Director, Ms. Pinky Medina. This was followed by a session on defining what is meant by NGO-Corporate Partnerships, and determining the motivations of NGOs when partnering with corporations which was delivered by our Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Kiel Fernandez.

To provide a comprehensive perspective on the discussion, Ms. Celine Santillan, Executive Director of the League of Corporate Foundations, shared the motivations of corporations when partnering with NGOs.

The morning sessions ended with a presentation on the fundamentals that organizations need to have in place when partnering with corporations as well as tips on choosing the ‘right’ corporate partners.

Later in the afternoon, participants learned about the current trends in NGO-Corporate Partnerships and listened to Ms. Anna Patricia Mayor (Program Manager at Pfizer Philippines Foundation, Inc.), Ms. Maria Pamela Castro (Senior Program Manager at Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc.), and Ms. Marievic Mariano (Head of Grants and Partnerships Unit at the Metrobank Foundation, Inc.).  The participants actively asked questions regarding requirements for starting a partnership and their criteria for choosing NGO partners from the resource speakers.

The rest of the workshop concentrated on knowing the process of initializing a partnership with companies, different types of partnership strategies that may be pursued, and how to strengthen ties with corporate partners. Real-time sharing, discussions, and open fora also helped the participants to gain more insights from their co-learners.
