On September 2, 2025, the Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies, Inc. (PHILSSA) held their 35th General Assembly, with the theme “Shaping Inclusive Futures Together (ShIFT),” at Fersal Place Hotel. The event aimed to provide a series of learning sessions focused on leadership transitions, policy shifts, and the evolving development environment.

Venture was invited to speak at one of the learning sessions, “Financial Sustainability and Resource Mobilization,” particularly in the segment “ResMob Reloaded: Practical Tips and Strategies for NGO Resource Mobilization.” This session focused on providing insights to strengthen resource mobilization efforts, which are invaluable to PHILSSA’s member NGOs, people’s organizations, and civic groups as they navigate funding shifts and work to remain mission-ready in the face of changing donor landscapes.

Representing Venture was our Executive Director, Ms. Pinky N. Medina, who shared key lessons on addressing common fund raising ‘pain points’ faced by nonprofit organizations. To make the session practical and actionable, she also provided strategies participants can consider when leveraging the three main sources of funding: grants, gifts, and earned income in order to tackle these fund raising challenges.

We were warmly welcomed not only by participants on-site but also by those who joined the session online. Beyond our session, the assembly also offered a rich lineup of learning opportunities for all attendees. In addition to Venture’s Resource Mobilization segment, PHILSSA members engaged in sessions covering urban resilience, land and housing concerns, and civic engagement, to help them strengthen community participation, advocacy, and democracy across sectors.

We are grateful to PHILSSA and their members for the chance to contribute to this important program. It was a pleasure building connections with such passionate leaders, and we look forward to creating more collaborations moving forward.

As PHILSSA’s Board Chairperson, Mr. Edgardo B. Ligon reminded us that “The development sector is becoming an industry.” Nonprofits must rise to the challenge and funding competition - thinking strategically, acting sustainably, and staying true to their mission.
