On the second day, Ms. Korina Aguila, Program Associate, presented the latest trends and insights in the fund raising landscape, drawing on recent global, regional, and national data and perspectives on giving and philanthropy. She also discussed emerging opportunities and approaches, including the growing role of technology and AI, impact investing, and venture philanthropy. The day continued with Ms. Fernandez’s session on who we fund raise from, focusing on identifying, developing, and engaging constituencies effectively.
An ‘AHA’ insight:
“There should be alignment in identifying and matching donors with the appropriate cause. Do not offer the entire menu of donation options, instead, present the causes that are most relevant to the donor.."
- Ms. Fe
In the afternoon, participants explored various fund raising strategies with real-world examples and best practices. The sessions were enriched by Ms. Medina and Ms. Fernandez’s first-hand sharing of their own fund raising experiences, offering practical insights and lessons. This discussion carried over to the third day, where participants examined additional strategies, including various online fund raising campaigns, earned income opportunities, and grants.
To close the program, Ms. Fernandez discussed how to know if fund raising works, emphasizing the importance of regularly monitoring and evaluating strategies to determine areas for improvement and making timely adjustments or pivots based on actual data. Finally, Ms. Medina introduced the fund raising planning process, equipping participants with practical tools and approaches to develop actionable strategies moving forward.
An ‘AHA’ insight:
“Fundraising is not just about asking people for money to support your mission and cause. It’s about building relationships, friendships, and partners.”
- Ms. Ana Rose
Throughout the three-day program, participants remained highly engaged, sharing experiences, exchanging insights, and collaborating through group discussions and activities. The interactive learning environment encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and peer learning, allowing participants to connect the concepts discussed with their own experiences and organizational contexts.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their enthusiasm and generosity in sharing their experiences. We hope you found the sessions as enriching and inspiring as we did.
